I'm using the cable that originally came with the monitor, if that helps.

All resolution options are greyed out, and only 640x480 is even listed.ĭVI works fine, it's just the Displayport that seems to be borked. This happens even after installing the 3008 WFP drivers in windows. Of note, the monitor gets detected as either "non plug and play monitor' or as a "Mobile PC monitor". Tried an earlier version of the drivers, as well as another clean install of the OS. This is the first time anything has ever been connected to the displayport, so even if that port has the same habit of corrupting it's EDID info as the DVI ports do, I'd be surprised if that was the culprit. No other resolutions are listed, and in fact that one itself is greyed out. When I connect the Dell 30" monitor to my new 5870 graphicscard via Displayport, the monitor is stuck at 640x480. Going to document everything here in case others with the problem find this thread.Maybe Dell can shed some light on this.Ĭatalyst 10.1 (latest) drivers - clean install

Well I found more people with the problem. I have called Dell and they said they could replace it with a refurbished panel but I have no dead pixels and I think I would find dead pixels worse than the slight shit, which granted is annoying. When I run something like ZNSES at 1600x1200 fullscreen the problem is gone but will come back upon returning to Windows at 1920x1200.ĭoes anyone have any idea what is going on? It happened with multiple computers running an range of OS. Had the problem with my vaio vgn-z590 (hdmi-dvi) with ubuntu 10.10 and with my girlfriend's old dell P4 (dvi->dvi) with windows xp Using the on-die gfx on my AMD A8-3850 with an ASRock A75M-ITX I dont understand why it "forgets" the position information. However, every time the monitor goes in standby or is turned off/on again the problem comes back. If I go in the menu and do factory reset -> positioning, this fixes the problem and the image is centered on the display again. The image is shifted down by about 2-3mm.

I have a DEll E248WFP with a weird problem. so, finally getting frustrated, I hooked my laptop up to the VGA port, manually changed the positioning values while in Analog input, turned off the monitor, unplugged the laptop, plugged back in the DVI, and there we go! That fixed it for me. "When using DVI, I can't change the positioning.
